Ebonyi governor suspends, orders arrest of two government officials for alleged murder

Two officials of the Ebonyi State Government have been suspended by the state Governor, Dave Umahi, over an alleged involvement in a murder case.

The governor also directed the immediate arrest and prosecution of the officials.

A statement from the Secretary to the State Government, Ugbala Kenneth, said the affected officials are the Coordinator, Ubeyi Development Centre, Uche Ibiam and the Technical Assistant to Governor on Security Ibiam Ogbonnaya Junior.

The two men are alleged to be involved in a violence that broke out in their ward in Uwana, Afikpo North local government area, on Friday during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election.

The violence led to the death of one Enyinnaya Ibiam.

According to Premium Times, Enyinnaya was killed by a bullet allegedly fired by a Development Centre Coordinator in the local council, from his gun at his own brother.

The bullet, however, missed the said coordinator’s brother and hit Enyinnaya, killing him instantly.

Enyinnaya and the said brother of the coordinator belonged to the same faction of PDP in their ward in Uwanna Afikpo North local government area while the coordinator belonged to another faction.
